Learn moreSelect Floor Service installs and refinishes solid hardwood, engineered planks, staircases, and parquet floors across Toronto, the GTA, and the Durham Region. Every project is completed by the owners themselves with no sub-contractors.

Since 1965, Select Floor Service has been a name homeowners, designers, and contractors across Toronto and the GTA trust when a hardwood floor must be done right. Every job is completed personally by the owners, with no sub-contractors and no shortcuts.
From heritage oak refinishing in century homes to herringbone installations and stair conversions, we treat every plank as if it were going into our own family room. Fully insured and bonded, with the same equipment, finishes, and standards used in the finest homes in the region.
Refinishing, installation, staircases, repairs, and specialty patterns. Whatever the project, the people quoting it are the same people doing the work.

Rooms sealed off, baseboards protected. We dustless-sand to bare wood and repair any boards that need attention.
Custom stain matched on your floor, then multiple coats of premium polyurethane finish buffed between layers for glass-smooth depth.
Walk the floor with the owners, confirm the finish, and receive aftercare guidance. We stand behind every board we touch.
A small selection from recent projects across Toronto, Pickering, Markham, Whitby, and Richmond Hill.
“From the first visit to the last coat of finish, the team treated our 1920s home with the kind of care you simply do not find anymore. The original oak floors look better than the day they were laid. They are punctual, tidy, and honest about what a floor needs.”
“We replaced carpeted stairs with solid oak treads and refinished the main floor at the same time. The colour match between the new stairs and existing hardwood is flawless. It is rare to deal with the actual owners on every visit. Highly recommended.”
“Quiet, clean, and respectful of our home. The sanding equipment captured the dust we expected to be cleaning for weeks. The finish is glass-smooth. A genuine family business that still cares about craftsmanship.”
“They repaired water damage on our maple floors that two other companies told us we would have to replace. The repair area is invisible. Fair price, beautiful work, and they stand behind it.”
“We had three quotes for installing herringbone in our entry hall. Select Floor Service was the only company that sat with us and explained exactly how the pattern would be laid out. The final result is the showpiece of the house.”
“Family owned, owner operated, and it shows. The same two people who quoted the job did the work. Trustworthy, careful, and clearly proud of what they do.”
We have answered the most common questions homeowners ask us about refinishing, installation, dust, timelines, and what to expect.
If your existing hardwood is 3/4 inch solid or has a thick enough wear layer, refinishing is almost always the better choice. It restores the floor to like-new condition at a fraction of the cost of replacement, preserves the original character of the home, and dramatically reduces waste. During our free in-home estimate we measure the remaining wear layer and tell you honestly whether refinishing or replacement is appropriate.
Tell us about your project. One of the owners will visit, walk you through samples, and provide a clear written estimate. No pressure, no sub-contractors, no surprises.
